Previously on The Amazing Race, there was a commercial break.

Actually, for some reason, we get an immediate “Previously on The Amazing Race” recap even though we literally just finished watching the episode with this detail.

Teams who have finished the Turban challenge are now headed to the Charminar, a well-known monument with four minarets. Will snottily notes that the “Mine Five” alliance is headed for a crack, as he considers the true alliance to be with Hung & Chee and Riley & Maddison.

Once there, the clue instructs teams to choose “This or That,” a frustrating turn of events for the volleyballers, who have trouble making a decision in the first play.

They must head to Chunilal Dayaldas next.

For one of the Detours, teams have to dig through a cart full of bangles to match them to the ones a “bride” is wearing in a shop. It’s a “gnarly” task, as there are seven bracelets that must be matched. Teams at this Detour include Riley & Maddison, DeAngelo & Gary and Will & James.

Hung & Chee and Eswar & Aparna go with some sort of gross tooth challenge. They have to take a mold of a dental patient’s teeth to prepare them for dentures. AND the teams must fit the dentures into the patient’s mouth. Gross.

The volleyballers receive the clue first and are heading to Taj Falaknuma Palace, where they have the ability to use their Yield if they choose to.

At Chunilal Dayaldas, the Racers must change into some outstanding uniforms, find some friends, and take them on a ride in a horse and carriage. Riley & Maddison finish first and then yield… the blondes. They think that Hung & Chee may be in a close race with the sisters, but Kaylynn & Haley aren’t in the same time zone, really. It’s a wasted yield, and now only Hung & Chee have theirs when it comes time to start breaking up the Mine Five.

At the palace, the Roadblock requires one player from each team to perfectly complete a place setting. The boyfriends and the football players leave the Detour at about the same time, meaning they will head for the palace and the place setting challenge.

Riley has a strategy for the place setting task, completing numerous tasks at once.

Hung doesn’t mind the gross denture challenge, because she and Chee have kids, who are gross all the time. Eswar & Aparna finish first, though, causing the married couple to worry about Kaylynn & Haley… who are, wait for it, lost. The women don’t even arrive before all the other teams have departed.

One trick of the place setting challenge is that the various pieces must be within a certain area, measured by a ruler. Riley is determined to share only with James, who is equally as determined to share only with… no one. Riley tells him anyway.

Even with the understanding that measurement is a requirement, Riley still gets it wrong on his first attempt… and his second.

Aparna does the challenge for her team, which isn’t great since she is absolutely awful with detail-oriented challenges.

Gary is now picking up on the fact that the boyfriends and the volleyballers are shunning him and DeAngelo. Riley gives James specific instruction, while Gary gets some generalities. The volleyball players win a seven-day Caribbean Cruise. Good luck with that. We hope they weren’t on it in early 2020.

Thanks to Riley’s hint, James & Will arrive at the Pit Stop second. James tells Hung how to properly complete the place setting, but Gary beats her anyway.

Aparna is terrible at the challenge, which means Hung gets to pass her. Is she SO terrible that the sisters will have a chance to catch up, though?

No. No she is not. The editors don’t even bother with trickery.

To their credit, Kaylynn & Haley laugh hard when they see they’ve been yielded again. And when they realize that the “Mine Five” were ganging up on them, they say, “They have a name?

Yeah… we’ll miss those good-natured women. Time for the gloves to come off.
