I saw this because I left my tv on after something else. It's like Caddyshack 2 but with more plot and less funny. |
In 1980, the classic comedy Caddyshack pitted the working-class everymen against the upper-crust, snooty element that frequently hang out at country clubs. The result was a raucous comedy wherein even though Rodney Dangerfield was a wealthy, self-made man, he was viewed as undesirable and the powers-that-be at the club made every effort to keep him out. Who's Your Caddy will follow a similar storyline, but will have a black man trying to obtain membership and running afoul of the club's board.
Outkast's Big Boi stars in the film as a rap mogul from Atlanta. He tries to join a conservative country club in the Carolinas, and when he does so, the board President vehemently opposes his application. That's okay, though, because Big Boi and his entourage are more than prepared to take on the institution and turn it on its head.
Along with Big Boi, the film stars Jeffrey Jones (most recently of Deadwood) and Andy Milonakis, the Super Bowl Is Gay Kid. With a pedigree like that, how can this movie fail? Presumably, Who's Your Caddy will receive a faint marketing push for theaters before it appears on DVD soon after. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
